Ongoing Programs:
Opportunities for Recreation and Volunteering:
Insha’Allah, every third Saturday of the month the youth of the community have the opportunity to get together and participate in recreation or volunteering.
Recreational activities may include paintballing, laser tag, bowling, etc. These activities are geared towards building brotherhood or sisterhood in the youth, while offering them opportunities to relax and have fun.
Volunteering activities may take place at soup kitchens, food banks, or within other organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity or local refugee camps. These activities reinforce the importance of community outreach and social services while also strengthening character and other civic virtues.
Monthly Qiyams:
Insha’Allah, every third Friday of the month, the youth can congregate at the Masjid after Isha for a program geared towards instilling the virtue of spirituality in their hearts.
The program generally consists of four to eight Rakah led by the young Hufaz of the community, followed by a lecture with topics appealing to the youth, a question and answer session, and refreshments.
These events offer the youth an opportunity to offer additional prayers while giving them an opportunity to listen to speakers and information they may not have had access to otherwise.
Brothers’ Programs:
Brothers’ Halaqa:
Taking place every Sunday after Isha, these Halaqas offer brothers between the ages of 13 and 25 an opportunity to meet with the Imam and their peers and discuss topics related to them.
Topics in these Halaqa are intended to give the brothers perspective, outlook, and knowledge about issues they will face as young Muslim men.
Quran Memorization Sessions:
Led by Hafiz Jamal every Tuesday, these sessions offer brothers between the ages of 13 and 25 the chance to strengthen their memorization skills and gradually memorize more verses of the Quran.
Sisters’ Programs:
Sisters’ Saturday Halaqa:
Taking place every Saturday at 12:00pm, these Halaqas are offered to sisters between the ages of 13 and up.
These Halaqa are led by sisters and are intended to offer young Muslim women advice, perspective, and information about issues they face and topics pertinent to them.
Sisters’ Bimonthly Halaqa:
Taking place every first and third Sunday of the month, these Halaqas are led by Imam Yaseen and are offered to girls between the ages of 15 and 25.
The discussion topics in these Halaqa may be of a more narrow scope than those in the Saturday Halaqa. Nonetheless, they are an opportunity for sisters to gain the information they need directly from a scholarly source.
Preteen Programs:
Preteen Halaqa: Open to boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 12, these Halaqa take place every first and third Friday of the month after Asr. While the scope of these Halaqa may be smaller than the other Halaqa, they offer the preteens insight into Islamic issues and history.
