Imam Shaikh Yaseen
Shaikh Yaseen was born in London, United Kingdom. He currently resides with his wife in Plano, Texas. He is the resident Imam, (Islamic Scholar and Spiritual Leader) of the Muslim community affiliated with the Islamic Society of Collin County also known as the Plano, Masjid. Imam Yaseen is a qualified Imam (Religious leader and Scholar). He received formal education in Islamic Studies in the U.K. At an early age of 13 he accomplished ‘Hifz” memorizing whole Quran, from Jamiah Islamiah, Kent, U.K. He graduated from Darul Uloom (Traditional Islamic Institute) London, with an Alim training and certificate. He also gained Iftaa (Mufti, Juristic Training. Ordained and authorized to give Fatwa and religious verdict in Islamic field). In addition, he received a diploma from Birkbeck College an affiliate of the University of London. In September 2003, Shaikh Yaseen received a M.A. in Islamic Studies from Birkbeck College. Shaikh Yaseen has been leading the Tarawih prayers for the last eleven years in various countries including the U.K., India and the U.S. He was appointed as an Imam in 2002 of the local masjid (Mosque) in the U.K. As an Imam his duties and responsibilities included leading the daily prayers, delivering Tafseer and Hadith, leading the Friday prayers with the Khutbah’s. In addition he performs Nikah ceremonies, Ghusl of the deceased (Male) and Tadfeen (Burial). As an English speaking Imam, while in the U.K. he has also served as the head of the Islamic Studies of a local Muslim boy’s secondary school. Responsibilities included implementing Islamic curriculum and teaching. In addition, he was involved extensively in Interfaith, Civic and Government sponsored activities. Noteworthy, communications with different faiths including priests, rabbis and others. He was also involved in diversity training for the police department and also actively involved in foster parenting and other related agencies. In May 2006 Shaikh Yaseen was appointed as the Imam of the Islamic Association of Collin County, Texas, however, in this very short time he has already showed his Islamic experience and his leadership qualities. He proved his prowess upon arrival in Plano by conducting a very successful five week Islam 101 class for non-Muslims in the community, his students and organizers were all praise for him. He continues to lead the congregation prayers at the Plano masjid and has also given the Friday Khutba’s and the Halaqa’s. He is looking forward to getting actively involved with youth programs, interfaith activities, civic and government involvement on behalf of the Plano masjid. |

About IACC
The Islamic Association of Collin County (IACC) is the center offers a place to pray, conducts variety of Islamic lessons (Halaqa), Sunday School, Summer School, marriage services, and Quranic and Arabic teachings.
