Policy and Procedure to follow

 

Scope:

Food brought to the Masjid should meet the guidelines and policies as put forward by the Plano Masjid Food Committee.

 

Objective:

·         The objective of this committee is to encourage the food which is being brought to the Plano Masjid be HALAL and acceptable to all the major SCHOOL of THOUGHTS.

 

·         This will enable all the community members to partake and enjoy the Food that is served, without any reservations.

 

·         To create the awareness about permissible foods, among the community members.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Community Members – All the members of the community will be encouraged to actively participate in this effort and help make it successful.

 

Food Committee  – The Food Committee along with the community members will ensure that all the food that is served caters to the current guidelines and policies as devised by the Food Committee. The Food Committee is currently made of—Br. Abdul Wadud Hassan, Br. Hussain Kedwaii, Br. Sabir Shaikh, Br. Riyaz Tayob and Br. Shahid Mateen

 

Office Manager – The Office Manager will participate in the policy, to help and direct the community members to get hold of the current guidelines and policies.

 

Policies to be followed:

·         Food should be brought to the Masjid with the knowledge of an office administrator

·         Any community member who wants to bring food in the Masjid will check with the Food Committee members.

·         Call should be made to the Food Committee members who will help the members as needed

·         However, if an item is already listed in the Halal Food List provided by the Food Committee, then the committee members may not be contacted.

·         To make it easy for everybody to partake in the food without any reservations

a) Only Zabiha Meat and Chicken should be brought

b) Alcohol and wine should not be used in cooking

c) Cheese and yogurt used should be from the Halal Food list

c) Any ready available snacks and food such as – chips, cakes, cookies, donuts, meat and milk products and juices not on the Halal Food list should be purchased after contacting the Committee.
